Now I Lay Thee Down beschreibt eine von Romeo und Julia inspirierite Liebesgeschichte mit einem tragischen Ende. Flynn war der Meinung, dass der Refrain ziemlich poppig klingt und schrieb daher einen „abgefuckten Text, damit das Lied kein Radioairplay erhält“.
